Visit Carlsbad: The Golfing Gateway to Southern California

Top travel destination promotes courses and resorts as a leading golf destination

Visit Carlsbad, the destination marketing organization for the Pacific Coast town of Carlsbad, California, invites golfers from across the country to experience the area’s top golf resorts, golf courses, and leading hotel properties as the organization further promotes the sunny region as one of America’s top golf destinations.

Carlsbad is home to top golf resort destinations Omni La Costa Resort & Spa and Park Hyatt Aviara, along with The Crossings at Carlsbad. The oceanfront town showcases world-class golf, luxury resort destinations, world class culture and cuisine, and some of the finest year-round weather anywhere. Golf Digest already recognizes Carlsbad among its “23 best summertime buddies trip golf destinations.”

"When you combine the world-class golf at La Costa, Aviara, and The Crossings, together with our resort destinations and over 5,000 hotel rooms, wonderful attractions, restaurants, breweries, beaches, outdoor activities, and great weather, why wouldn’t you want to put this on your bucket list of golf destinations?” said Mark Rudyk, Vice President Marketing & Communications of Visit Carlsbad. “We are very excited to promote our great golf partners and create more awareness about our golf product and attract even more golfers to this beautiful oceanside golf destination."

Midwest Golfing Magazine: Golf Show Edition

Read New Issue Online

With golf fever at an all-time high, Midwest Golfing Magazine is thrilled to present the first issue of our 20th year! We are humbled that for two decades Midwest golf enthusiasts have looked to us for insights on where to play, what equipment to buy, and to stay up-to-date on what’s new and exciting in our eight state distribution region.

We begin our Golf Show Issue with a cover feature on the power of BOYNE Golf in Northern Michigan. Ten magnificent courses spread out over three dynamic resorts – it doesn’t get much better than BOYNE when it comes to Midwest golf in our humble opinion. We are privileged to feature two other Midwest resort titans, French Lick Resort in southern Indiana, and Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena, Illinois. Both are two of my personal favorites and golfers can play 63 distinctive holes over four courses at each property.

63 holes is just an appetizer when you drive just north of Indianapolis to Hamilton County. The county boasts of over a dozen public courses that keep getting better with age according to Glen Turk. Plus, a sweet Top Golf in Fishers makes Hamilton County a true golf-centric destination. Lead staff writer Matt Tevsh, who has been with us since almost the beginning, headed south for a great feature on the legendary Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, home to 468 holes on 26 courses over 11 venues throughout the Yellowhammer State. Matt is also in charge of our Midwest Golfing Personals feature on Lance Meyer, a teacher who turned to painting golf courses while he is fighting a rare disease.

2022 also signals the return of our Pro Page series, and this year’s resident pro is one of Wisconsin’s finest players and teachers, Michael Crowley of Morningstar Golfer’s Club in Waukesha. Finally, a Golf Show Issue wouldn’t be complete with staples such as Chip Shots, The Must Haves, and Turk’s Takes.

The Loop at Chaska

The Loop at Chaska

Opening Fall of 2022

The Loop at Chaska is a first for the world of golf, a golf course designed to be accessible to everyone. Non-Profit Barrier Free Golf worked in partnership with the City of Chaska to breathe new life into the land that used to house the Chaska Par 30.

At the Loop, golfers will experience quality golf architecture, a welcoming atmosphere, and fun. Our architect, Benjamin Warren, drew inspiration from some of the best courses in the world to create excellent green surrounds that will present challenges for the experienced, low handicapper AND will introduce beginners to quality golf course architecture.

The Loop at Chaska will become a national demonstration project that showcases how golf course design can enable access to golf by appealing to new populations - especially golfers with physical and sensory impairments.

Volunteer registration opens for 2023 U.S. Senior Open Championship

This prestigious USGA event will take place at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wis., in summer 2023

SentryWorld announced today that volunteer registration has begun for the 43rd U.S. Senior Open Championship.

SentryWorld, a public, parkland course in central Wisconsin, will host the event—its first U.S. Senior Open and third USGA championship—from June 29–July 2, 2023. The championship, expected to attract more than 75,000 spectators, will feature many of the world’s best golfers age 50 and over.

“Volunteers are the backbone of any successful USGA championship,” said Steve Marino, SentryWorld’s 2023 U.S. Senior Open Championship Director. “Volunteering at the U.S. Senior Open will give you a behind-the-scenes and up-close look at world-class golf while you give back to the central Wisconsin community.”

Volunteers will need to purchase a uniform package for $95 plus tax. The package includes two championship logoed golf shirts, one logoed windbreaker, one logoed hat or visor, one logoed clear drawstring bag, one official commemorative lapel pin, one logoed water bottle, and one credential valid for all seven days of the championship (non-transferable). As a volunteer, you receive complimentary food, snacks, and beverages on the days you volunteer.

About 2,000 volunteers are needed for the event. Volunteer opportunities for ages 14–21 are available with no required uniform package to purchase.

Volunteer information and registration can be found at sentryworld.com/usso2023/volunteer. If you have questions, contact Mike Cataldo, SentryWorld’s Championship Services Manager, at michael.cataldo@sentryworld.com, or call 715-544-1031.
