Very few times have I said of a course, “I can play this course the rest of my life and I'll be fine if I play no other.” I have played at Port Stewart twice before in my life and yes, I'd be just fine and dandy living in this coastal town and play these three courses for the remainder of my days.
Here are three 18 holes courses. Each a majestical golf journey. The Strand, The Old Course and The Riverside.
However, it is The Strand Golf Course that often has golfers exclaiming, “She's as good as Royal Port Rush and Royal County Down!”. The staff here simply and humbly replies, “Oh, thank you.”
Hole #1 on The Strand is often said to be the most scenic opening hole in all of Irish Golf. That is high praise. However, it could be said that The Strand is simply one of the Top 10 Courses I have ever played. From Thailand to South Africa. From Brazil to Iceland I have chased the wee-little ball.
And without hesitation I will tell you The Strand is a master piece.
